Frequently Asked Questions

Looking for more information about Art In Motion Dance Classes? We've compiled a list of frequently asked questions along with our responses. If you don't find an answer to your question, please feel free to send us an email at info@phillyaimdancers.com.

1.) WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY FIRST CLASS?

New students will be asked to complete and sign their registration form at the studio prior to attending their first class. Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete your form.

Comfortable fitting clothing are best to wear for class. Jeans are acceptable as long as you are comfortable in them. Sneakers and boots should not be worn as they prohibit you from being able to move freely. Wear comfortable shoes that you can move in. Women are not required to wear heels, and you can wear flats if you would like!

2.) HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO LEARN?

Generally speaking, there is not set time frame a person will learn. The time it takes to learn depends solely on the individual and the time they invest in taking classes, training and practicing. Yes, the level of instruction plays a part in that learning, but here you will get the tools and materials you'll need in order to make the best of the time you put into practice. This will shorten that time so you will be comfortable dancing socially sooner rather than later.

3.) HOW CAN I PRACTICE WHAT I LEARNED IN CLASS?

The best way to get the most out of learning from your classes is to social dance. We have a MONTHLY SOCIAL which consists of salsa, bachata, cha cha, Latin Hustle and more.

4.) WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN an 8 Week Course,  SPECIALTY CLASS & PERFORMANCE CLASS?

2 Month Course is a class that is taught in 2 months. The course is a progressive class the builds over the weeks. This includes the following classes:

*Check out our schedule to see which classes are 8 week courses*

Specialty Class is a 2 Month  course that specifically focuses on one area of dancing. These courses are taught in 2 month sessions and change every course. So for example, we have had:

*Spin Technique, Musicality in Social Dancing, Mambo, Body Movement & Isolation, etc.*

Check out our FULL SCHEDULE for details on our current specialty class.

Performance Class is a class for anyone who has successfully completed Beginner I and who wants to learn a choreography so they can perform at our Semi-Annual Showcase.
